What Is “Ultraman Day”?
On July 10, 1966, one week before the broadcast of the first episode of Ultraman, “Ultra Operation No. 1”, a commemorative event called “The Birth of Ultraman” was broadcast at the Suginami Public Hall in Tokyo. This event featured “Ultraman”, “Kaiju”, and the “Science Special Search Party”, with the “Father of Tokusatsu” Eiji Tsuburaya himself also appearing as a guest.
To commemorate this day, July 10th was established as “Ultraman Day” (as certified by the Japan Anniversary Association).
